Weekly Report, 2024-02-05 to 2024-02-11

During the week from February 5th to February 11th, 2024, the Service Juridique conducted a total of 18 consultations to assist consumers with various inquiries and issues. These consultations were carried out through diverse communication channels, encompassing messenger, phone, video call, and Mastodon interactions.

Throughout this period, one of the most recurrent topics addressed was GDPR related concerns. In seven cases, consumers were advised on the nature of personal data processing by companies and how to exercise their rights to access and correct data. Another prevalent issue was pricing transparency, with five consultations focusing on unclear pricing structures and hidden fees. Consumers were guided on how to approach businesses for clearer pricing information and to report inconsistencies.

There was also a notable demand for advice regarding travelers’ rights in train travel. Four cases involved passengers facing delays or cancellations. In these instances, consumers were informed about the compensation policies rail companies must adhere to under EU regulations.

Apart from these topics, there was one occasion where the consultation did not proceed due to the issue falling outside the scope of our agency. The matter in question pertained to real estate rental concerns, which do not align with consumer protection mandates.

In offering our guidance, Service Juridique focused on educating consumers about their rights and on the appropriate measures they can undertake to resolve their issues. We remain committed to providing accurate and comprehensive legal advice tailored to consumer needs within the EU.

This week counseling was provided by WhizzBang.
