During the week from 2024-06-24 to 2024-06-30, the Service Juridique provided consumer consulting through various communication channels, including e-mail, messenger, video call, and reddit. In total, we conducted 14 consultations, each addressing various topics concerning consumer rights and protection within the EU.
In five instances, consumers sought advice regarding unfair business practices that were recognized as blacklisted. Our legal team provided specific guidance on how to file a complaint with the applicable evidence to support their case. In four of these situations, the communication was conducted via video call, allowing for a more direct and engaging dialogue.
E-commerce/distance selling inquiries accounted for six consultations. Most of these cases stemmed from issues related to non-delivery and the misrepresentation of goods. Consumers were primarily in touch through e-mail, where they were advised on actions such as initiating chargebacks through their payment provider and documenting all communications with the seller.
The topic of inadmissible health claims related to food was discussed in three consultations. Consumers expressed concerns over misleading product labels and advertisements. Through messenger and one reddit interaction, we advised them on their rights and the steps to contact national food safety authorities to report misleading claims.
Lastly, six consultations revolved around travelers’ rights for train travel. Issues included delays and cancellations, where consumers frequently used reddit to connect with our service. We informed them about their entitlements to compensation under EU passenger rights regulations and how to formally submit a compensation claim.
In one rare instance, a consultation could not be addressed as it involved a matter beyond our scope, specifically regarding real estate taxation. The consumer was informed that this issue falls outside the remit of our services.
All inquiries were handled with a focus on providing clear, actionable advice tailored to each scenario, ensuring that consumers were equipped to address their issues effectively within the legal framework available to them.
