During the week from June 16, 2025, to June 22, 2025, the Service Juridique provided consumer consulting primarily through the messenger service. Throughout this period, we handled a total of 18 consultations, each involving multiple issues that impacted consumer rights within the EU.
A significant portion of consultations, noted in nine cases, involved the issue of failure to provide mandatory information by businesses. Consumers were advised to request the necessary information directly from the supplier, emphasizing their right to complete disclosure as stipulated under EU consumer protection laws. Additionally, we observed six instances where inadmissible health claims related to food were reported. In these cases, consumers were guided to scrutinize the legitimacy of claims on products and return items if they were determined to be misleading, ensuring their complaints were well-informed and supported by the EU regulations.
Moreover, there were five consultations concerning warranty on consumer goods. Consumers were instructed on how to proceed with warranty claims, reinforcing their understanding of the standard two-year warranty period applicable within the EU and the necessity of documentation to facilitate such claims. Lastly, four cases pertained to permissible health claims in food. Here, consumers were clarified on the legal framework surrounding such claims, advising them to differentiate between regulated health claims and those that could be considered misleading.
In this reporting period, all issues fell within the scope of our services, and appropriate advice was rendered in every case. The Service Juridique continues to provide crucial assistance, ensuring consumers are well-informed and can assert their rights effectively.
This week counseling was provided by WhizzBang Viadrina.
