Weekly Report, 2025-12-29 to 2026-01-04

During the week from December 29, 2025, to January 4, 2026, the Service Juridique handled a total of 19 consultations concerning various consumer protection issues. The consultations were carried out through several communication channels, including Reddit, Mastodon, Messenger, phone, and video calls.

A significant portion of this week’s consultations were related to travelers’ rights (package holiday). In seven cases, consumers reached out to clarify their rights regarding cancellations and alterations of package holidays. Through detailed explanations, consumers were advised on the specific entitlements and compensations they could claim under EU regulations. Assistance was provided on how to effectively communicate with travel agencies to assert their rights.

Another prevalent subject discussed was the right to repair. Nine consultations involved consumers seeking guidance on product repairs, warranties, and manufacturers’ obligations. The Service Juridique provided clarity on EU directives that support consumers’ rights to repair, offering advice on how to approach sellers and manufacturers to resolve their issues.

In three instances, consultations encompassed both travelers’ rights and the right to repair, as consumers dealt with travel-related products failing during usage. The Service Juridique supplied strategic advice on addressing these multi-faceted issues, ensuring consumers understood the broad spectrum of their rights.

There was one case where the consultation did not conclude favorably. The consumer’s issue, concerning overseas taxation, fell outside the jurisdiction of our services as it did not pertain to EU consumer protection laws.

This week, the Service Juridique successfully guided consumers through a diverse array of issues, reinforcing their understanding and empowerment under EU consumer protection legislation.

This week counseling was provided by WhizzBang Viadrina.
