During the week from December 9, 2024, to December 15, 2024, the Service Juridique handled a total of 21 consumer consultations. Several communication channels were utilized during these consultations, including messenger, video call, and telegram, allowing for flexible interaction with consumers. The issues addressed during this period were varied, reflecting ongoing consumer concerns across multiple areas.
In eight cases, the topic of unfair practice involving exertion of pressure on consumers was discussed. The affected consumers were advised on identifying such practices and provided with information about their legal rights and steps to report the issue. Additionally, consumers were encouraged to document any related incidents comprehensively.
Travelers’ rights emerged as a significant area of focus, with eight consultations regarding package holidays and four consultations concerning air travel. Consumers were informed about their rights related to disruptions and cancellations, and were advised on how to lodge formal complaints when travel services did not meet contractual agreements. Emphasis was placed on understanding the specifics of EU travel regulations to strengthen their case.
The topic of warranty on consumer goods was addressed in nine consultations. In these instances, consumers were briefed on warranty terms and the process of claiming repairs or replacements under warranty. They were also advised to maintain clear records of communications with sellers and to assert their rights firmly if disputes arose.
Five consultations covered unfair general terms and conditions. For these, consumers were guided on recognizing potentially unfair terms and understanding their implications. They were also advised to seek modifications to or reject terms where possible and to be aware of their ability to challenge such terms legally.
Three consultations were related to pseudo medicine/health products not connected to food. Consumers were cautioned about the claims made by these products and guided on how to verify the legitimacy of health-related claims. Emphasis was placed on understanding existing regulations and assessing product safety critically.
Finally, it is worth noting that in one instance, a consultation could not proceed because the issue fell outside the scope of our services, involving subjects unrelated to EU consumer protection.
Through the consultations conducted, Service Juridique aimed to empower consumers with guidance and information necessary to tackle the issues they faced effectively.
This week counseling was provided by WhizzBang.
