WhizzBang Applauds Polish Government’s Extension of Household Energy Price Freeze, Emphasizes Benefits for EU Expatriates

Frankfurt/Oder, 2025-01-14 – WhizzBang, the European network dedicated to consumer and data protection for expatriates, commends the Polish government’s recent decision to extend the freeze on household energy prices through the first nine months of 2025. This initiative, maintaining energy costs at 500 zlotys (€112) per megawatt-hour, aims to alleviate the financial burden on consumers amid rising energy prices and inflation.

Expatriates residing in Poland, particularly those from other EU member states, stand to benefit significantly from this measure. Often navigating complex administrative systems and facing language barriers, expatriates can find it challenging to manage unexpected cost increases. The extension of the energy price freeze provides a predictable and stable financial environment, allowing expatriates to better integrate and contribute to the local economy.

“The Polish government’s commitment to controlling energy costs is a commendable step towards protecting all consumers, including the expatriate community,” stated Iwona Szczeblewski, board member of WhizzBang Viadrina. “Predictable energy expenses are crucial for expatriates who may already be adapting to new financial and regulatory landscapes.”

WhizzBang emphasizes that expatriates often face unique challenges, such as understanding local utility regulations and accessing consumer protection resources. Measures like the energy price freeze not only offer immediate financial relief but also contribute to a more inclusive and supportive environment for EU citizens living abroad.

As a proponent of the EU single market and the free movement of people, WhizzBang supports initiatives that reduce national barriers and promote consumer protection across borders. The organization remains committed to advocating for policies that address the specific needs of expatriates, ensuring they receive equitable treatment and support in their host countries.

About WhizzBang: WhizzBang is a European network focused on consumer and data protection, uniquely dedicated to representing the interests of expatriates—individuals living in an EU country different from where they were socialized.
