Weekly Report, 2026-05-25 to 2026-05-31

This weekly report summarizes the consumer consultations handled by the Service Juridique from 25 May 2026 to 31 May 2026. During this period, a total of 15 consultations were conducted using various communication channels, including phone, messenger, and video calls.

Among the consultations, unfair business practices were a recurring topic, addressed in eight cases. Consumers frequently expressed concerns regarding unfair terms and conditions, which were explored in five consultations. In four instances, issues related to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) were discussed. There were also three consultations where consumers pointed out unfair practices, including the exertion of pressure.

In handling these cases, the Service Juridique provided detailed advice to consumers on how they could pursue their rights effectively. For those facing unfair business practices, the recommended course of action was often to gather all relevant documentation and consider formal complaint procedures as permitted by EU consumer protection regulations. Consumers experiencing issues with GDPR breaches were advised to first contact the concerned company to seek rectification, ensuring they exercised their rights under data protection laws. In cases of unfair general terms and conditions, the advice generally involved reviewing the terms with a focus on transparency and fairness, followed by direct negotiation with the business if necessary.

Only one consultation dealt with an issue not within our jurisdiction, as it concerned taxation, which is not covered by consumer rights. This reflects the narrow instances where our guidance could not be fully extended due to jurisdictional limitations.

The consulting week was marked by effective guidance, ensuring that consumers were well-informed about their options and rights within the EU framework. The Service Juridique remains committed to addressing consumer concerns comprehensively and facilitating informed consumer decisions.

This week counseling was provided by WhizzBang Viadrina.
