Weekly Report, 2025-11-10 to 2025-11-16

During the week from November 10, 2025, to November 16, 2025, the Service Juridique provided legal counseling to consumers through our Mastodon communication channel. Over this period, we conducted a total of 19 consultations. The inquiries covered a range of topics, often involving multiple issues within a single consultation.

A significant portion of consultations, specifically seven, addressed concerns related to commerce électronique/vente à distance. Consumers frequently expressed confusion about their rights in online transactions, including return policies and delivery issues. In most cases, they were advised to review the seller’s terms and conditions and exercise their right to withdraw from purchases within the legal period if necessary.

En ce qui concerne manquement à l'obligation de fournir des informations obligatoires, four consultations were conducted. Consumers reported experiences where essential details, such as the total price or contract terms, were missing from pre-purchase disclosures. The advice given included requesting the missing information directly from the seller before proceeding with any purchase.

We encountered three cases concerning GDPR issues, where consumers sought guidance on how the handling of their personal data should comply with existing regulations. The Service Juridique advised these individuals on how to file a complaint with the relevant data protection authority if their data privacy rights had been infringed.

Deux consultations ont porté sur les allégations de santé dans les denrées alimentaires, where consumers were concerned about potentially misleading claims on product labeling. Recommendations were made to verify such claims against existing EU regulations and report any inconsistencies to pertinent oversight bodies.

Another two interviews dealt with pratiques déloyales, such as exerting undue pressure to make a purchase. In these instances, our counsel informed consumers about their rights to resist such practices and suggested documenting these occurrences for legal recourse.

En ce qui concerne garantie sur les biens de consommation, one consultation involved questions about warranty entitlements for a recently purchased defective item. The consumer was advised to approach the seller to resolve the issue, referencing the statutory warranty terms.

Lastly, we addressed a single concern related to pseudo-médecine/santé (non liée à l'alimentation). The consumer sought advice on claims associated with alternative health products, and they were advised to critically assess these claims and consult relevant health authorities if the products appeared dubious.

There was one consultation where the issue fell outside our scope of expertise as it pertained to non-EU jurisdictions, resulting in us being unable to provide assistance. Overall, the week’s engagements highlighted common consumer issues, and we provided guidance aligned with EU consumer protection regulations.
